Adoptable Kitties (Click Here)
Adoption Process: To help ensure that cats are placed in loving, responsible, and committed homes, a screening process is in place.
• First, please complete the adoption application and return to Sonyashope2023@gmail.com. (Please understand that Sonya's Hope does not have a physical building and all potential adopters must be pre-approved through the application process prior to a visit to our fosters' homes. This is to ensure the safety of our volunteers.)
• Second, a home visit is required as part of the adoption process which may be virtual
• Third, a meet and greet will be scheduled to take place in the foster’s home
• Lastly, the kitten will be delivered to his/her new home by a Sonya's Hope representative. There may be circumstances when the adopter is able to facilitate the delivery themselves.
Adoption Fee and What it Covers: The rescue adoption fee is $150. If you adopt a pair, the adoption fee is $200 for both. The adoption fee may be waived or reduced for unique circumstances such as your involvement in the socialization of a rescued cat (please inquire for additional information regarding this process).
All cats/kittens have already received the following:
• Spay or neuter
• Vaccines – with at least one FVRCP vaccination. If you adopt a kitten, depending on the kitten’s age, the FVRCP vaccine series may or may not be complete (as kitten vaccines are given 3-4 weeks apart up until the age of 16 weeks). If the vaccine series is not yet complete at the time of adoption, it will be the adopter’s responsibility to complete the series.
• Treated for fleas and dewormed
• Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
• Microchipped
Please note that the cost of these services have already been paid for and range between $150 and $275 per cat/kitten. Additional medical costs such as surgery for injuries or congenital problems, x-rays, blood panels, fecal tests, and treatment for upper respiratory infections and viruses over and beyond the cost of the above mentioned services have already been paid for as well. Donations above and beyond the adoption fee are greately appreciated and help defer the costs of cats and kittens in most need. Sonya’s Hope for Felines takes great pride in making sure each cat and kitten is healthy prior to being placed up for adoption. Once you adopt a new pet into your family, all expenses (including veterinarian) are your responsibility for the life of your pet. Please understand that, due to the high need to place cats in need, we can not place a hold on the adoption of cats / kittens for any length of time. Please take your time in choosing a cat for a companion-this is a lifetime commitment that requires money, time, and more importantly, love.
